If you are interested in the music from the game, or in researching the dialogue between Henry and Delilah in detail, here's how you do that.
1. Required Tools
2. Location of Firewatch Audio
For windows, the game's audio files are saved in bnk/wem format in
[Steamfolder]\SteamApps\common\Firewatch\firewatch_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\GeneratedSoundBanks\Windows
Copy/Extract all the aforementioned tools there.
3. Convert Audio
Now, there are some steps to obtain Ogg files that you can play with almost any audio player or convert further to mp3. To automate these steps, you can use a batch file. Create an empty text file in the audio folder, and paste the following lines:
for %%f in (*.bnk) do ( bnkextr.exe %%f for %%g in (*.wem) do ww2ogg.exe %%g --pcb packed_codebooks_aoTuV_603.bin for %%h in (*.ogg) do revorb.exe %%h mkdir extract-%%f move *.ogg extract-%%f del *.wem )
This will convert the audio to Ogg and save it in a separate folder for each bnk file. Save, change the file extension to .bat and run it. After it has finished, you will have a folder for each bnk sound file, containing the converted ogg files.
4. Voices
The English voices are located (for Windows) in
[Steamfolder]\SteamApps\common\Firewatch\firewatch_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\GeneratedSoundBanks\Windows\English(US)
so you can apply a similar procedure. Copy/extract all tools to this folder, create an empty text file and paste the following:
for %%f in (*.wem) do ww2ogg.exe %%f --pcb packed_codebooks_aoTuV_603.bin for %%g in (*.ogg) do revorb.exe %%g mkdir extract-voices move *.ogg extract-voices
Save, change the file extension to .bat and run. When finished, you will have a folder named "extract-voices" which contains all the Ogg files.
Let me know if you run into any problems, or if you found some interesting/hidden stuff!
